Auckland Castle

Auckland Castle & Weardale Railway - Auckland Castle's history dates back to the Norman Conquest in the 11th Century and for 900 years, it has been the palace of the Prince Bishops of Durham. To enhance your visit here today you will receive a guided tour. Today you also embark on a captivating 16-mile single train journey from Stanhope to Bishop Auckland. Catch glimpses of picturesque market towns and the stunning scenery of Hamsterley Forest.

Full Day Guided Tour inc. Holy Island - A guide will join you on the coach today and take you across the sandy causeway to the mysterious Holy Island of Lindisfarne, giving you fantastic views of the North Sea. Your guide will also take you to Heatherslaw Light Railway for a single journey, the most northerly steam railway in England. As if this wasn't enough, you'll also visit Lady Waterford Hall, the Victorian Schoolroom which is home to an incredible selection of pre-Raphaelite murals.

Alnwick Castle

Alnwick Castle & Newcastle - Famed as 'Windsor of the North', where the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland still reside, Alnwick Castle has been owned by the Percy family since 1309. Today you have a guided tour of the Castle where you will be shown iconic settings which have graced the screens of numerous Hollywood blockbusters such as Harry Potter and Downton Abbey.
