Itinerary

Monday
After departing from our convenient joining point, we travel to Long Sutton. On arrival at the Butterfly Park we enjoy a complimentary coffee following which we are met by our Blue Badge Guide. First of all we are presented with a free souvenir map of your day before rejoining the coach for a most enjoyable tour passing through quaint villages of the Fens. On this interesting tour you will hear why the villages of Four Goats, Foul Anchor, Gedney Drove End and Lutton came by their names. Listen to a fascinating talk by your Guide about Dick Turpin, the history of the Woad and see where King John lost his Jewels. We also get the opportunity to view the Wash Marshes, the Lighthouse where Peter Scott lived until 1938, and see the only Flint Church in Lincolnshire with the highest, oldest timber spire in the Country before returning to the Butterfly park prior to continuing on to our hotel.

Tuesday
A full day exploring the Lincolnshire Wolds, including a sumptuous cream tea in the village of Tealby. This charming village is often described as the prettiest village in Lincolnshire. It has a rich history with its strong association with the Victorian Poet Laureate, Alfred Lord Tennyson.

Wednesday
After checking out of the hotel, we make the short journey to Easton Walled Gardens where we discover the 12 acres of “lost” gardens representing more than 400 years of gardening. Easton Walled Gardens have been described as “A dream of Nirvana…almost too good to be true” by President Franklin D Roosevelt during his honeymoon stay with his bride Eleanor.
