Itinerary
FridayWe travel north to arrive at our hotel late afternoon.
SaturdayA full day today to Beamish Open Air Museum, a living, working experience of life as it was in the Great North in the early 1800’s and 1900’s.
SundayFollowing breakfast, we start the day off with a nostalgic ride on the Tanfield Railway. Few steam railways offer the variety and character of scenery, locomotives and rolling stock that you will find here. After enjoying time at this quaint railway, we rejoin the coach for the short drive to the historical city of Durham before returning to our hotel.
MondayThis morning we travel to nearby Sunderland where we enjoy an interesting visit to the National Glass Centre. Housed in a spectacular architecturally designed glass and steel building situated on the north bank of the River Wear, the National Glass Centre is a unique cultural venue and visitor attraction. Here you can enjoy a full range of exhibitions, galleries and workshops. This interesting venue is home to the UK's largest art glass making facilities for kiln forming, stained glass, lampworking and hot and cold working. These techniques are used daily by the in-house studio artists who perform live glass blowing demonstrations 3 times daily. From here we return to Newcastle for free time.
TuesdayFollowing breakfast, we bid our hosts farewell and begin our journey back to East Anglia.
