Tour Description

Renowned for its seven miles of golden beaches and lovely parks and gardens, Bournemouth remains high on the list of the top resorts to visit in the UK. Add to this an interesting programme of excursions in the surrounding area and you will see why we have selected this destination again in Summer 2010.

Accommodation

Kiwi Hotel
The Kiwi Hotel has been owned and managed by the same family for over forty years who are proud of the very high standards of care and attention they extend to all their guests, many of whom return year after year. The 2** Kiwi Hotel is ideally situated in Bournemouth, being only a 4-5 min stroll to the town centre and just 100m from the seafront. All rooms are en suite and have TV and tea/coffee making facilities. There is no lift at this hotel.

Excursions

Poole & Compton Acres Gardens
With its bustling quay, beautiful beaches and stunning harbour, Poole is a wonderful town to explore. Compton Acres offers ten acres of gardens, all individually themed.

Swanage
We enjoy a morning visit to Swanage. Like all of England's Victorian and Edwardian seaside towns, Swanage is very much a creation of the railway era. Our return journey is by way of the “Chain Ferry” which allows us to enjoy the short crossing from Shell Bay to Sandbanks. The rest of the afternoon will be spent in our host town of Bournemouth.

New Forest & Beaulieu - Palace House
We make a memorable excursion through the tranquil New Forest which culminates with a visit to Beaulieu Palace House. Formerly the 14th century Great Gatehouse of Beaulieu Abbey, Palace House has been home to the Montagu family and their ancestors since 1538. The history of the House and its visitors is fascinating and today you can still see the monastic origins of the building and talk to Victorian characters from the House as you explore one of Britain's most outstanding stately homes.

The Isle of Portland & Weymouth
First on our schedule today is a visit to the Isle of Portland. Most visitors only know Portland for its famous stone or the lighthouse but there's a lot more to discover as you will see on this brief but interesting visit. Our next stop is Weymouth with its wide esplanade, pleasant Georgian buildings and elaborate clock tower, erected in 1887 to mark Queen Victoria's golden jubilee. During your visit why not make time to meander around the colourful harbour before rejoining your driver for the journey back to the hotel.
